Tucked away in the warmth of North Park sits Sea Rocket Bistro. A seemingly unassuming restaurant at first glance; yet after steps into this cozy establishment I fell in love with the discovery again. Recycled materials are molded ornately into underwater sea creatures, as they suspend from the ceilings in each room. Delicate lights grace the linings of the walls that help paint my whimsical dining experience.
They have recently brought on Chef Chad White that will continue Sea Rocket’s devotion to serve all locally grown produce. Sea Rocket’s suppliers nest in all regions of California, yet the seafood prepared for the advantageous menu comes directly
from our beloved San Diego sea front. Over the bar on a flat screen plays a stream of videos capturing the grass roots stories and processes of all the locally harvested ingredients. To actually see where your food originates from is extremely refreshing and a rarity in today’s food industry. Sea Rocket Bistro has a playground of tastes and eclectic bites, serving everything from tapas, seafood, pasta, meats, cheeses and a separate gluten free, vegan menu for anyone whom asks. I sat down and immediately felt at home.
Each plate introduced a new flavor and adventure for my palette. The dishes had their own distinct signature, and changes along with the seasons. The current menu features Sea Urchin Shooters, Crudo Salad (pictured above), Albacore Tartine, Whole Grilled Snapper (pictured right) Sea Rocket Grass-Fed Burger, and a “Little Ones” menu with a Burger, Risotto and Pasta.
