10 HALLOWEEN COCKTAIL RECIPES

It’s not really the costumes. It’s not even the candy. The real reason we love Halloween—it’s another excuse to get drunk. Here are some ideas for scary, beautiful and tasty libations.

BLACK LAGOON COCKTAIL

4 ounces vodka
2 ounces Rosemary-Lemon Syrup
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Licorice Ice Cubes

Combine vodka, syrup, and juice in a cocktail shaker, stir to combine. Add seltzer, and divide between two glasses filled with licorice ice cubes. Serve immediately.

SCREWED-UP SCREWDRIVER

1/4 cup ice

1 cup orange or tangerine juice
11/2 ounces black vodka

In a tall glass, add ice and juice. Carefully pour vodka over the back of a teaspoon so that it floats on top of the juice. Serve immediately.

BLEEDING HEART MARTINI

2 ounces dry vermouth
8 ounces premium gin
Ice cubes
4 Pickled Baby Beets, each placed on a cocktail skewer

Chill 4 martini glasses in the freezer or fill with ice water and let sit until frosty, about 5 minutes (pour out water). Add the vermouth, dividing evenly; swirl to coat the glasses, then pour out. Add gin to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled; divide among chilled glasses. Garnish each with a skewered pickled baby beet, and serve immediately.

BLOODY SCARY

4 ounces prosecco
1 ounce freshly squeezed blood orange juice
1/2 ounce Campari
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
1 ounce Blavod Black vodka, chilled

In a champagne flute, combine prosecco, orange juice, Campari, and simple syrup. Pour vodka over the back of a cocktail spoon into glass creating a layer of black. Serve immediately.

RADISH EYEBALL MARTINI

1/2 cup gin )or preferred spirit)

Place 1 Radish Eyeball in  martini glass. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in gin. Shake well; strain into glasses. Serve immediately.

(Radish Eyeballs: Using a paring knife, scrape off most of the red skin from the radish, leaving just enough red to give the radish a veined appearance. Rinse radishes. Using a very small melon baller, cut a small hole in the stem end of each radish. Insert an pimento-stuffed olive half, cut side out, into each hole; serve.)

 

 

 

 

 

BLOODTHIRSTY MARY

3 cups tomato juice
3 tablespoons freshly grated or drained prepared horseradish, plus more for garnish
1/2 cup vodka
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Juice of 1 lemon
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Hot sauce, such as tabasco
Celery stalks, for garnish

Scallions, dark-green parts only, for garnishIn a pitcher, stir together tomato juice, horseradish, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and hot sauce to taste.

Pour into ice-filled glasses. Garnish with horseradish, celery, and scallions, as desired.

PINA GHOULADA

FOR THE “BLOOD”
3 tablespoons corn syrup
1/4 teaspoons red food coloring

FOR THE DRINK
20 ounces pineapple juice
1 can (15 ounces) cream of coconut
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup orange juice
10 ounces good-quality rum

Pour the corn syrup in a shallow bowl. Dip a toothpick into the food coloring, and stir a very small amount into the syrup to combine. Hold a glass by the stem, dip rim into the syrup mixture, and turn glass, coating entire rim. Turn the glass upright, allowing mixture to drip down sides. Dip the remaining glasses. Set aside.

Whisk together drink ingredients. Place 2 1/2 cups ice in a blender, and add 1 cup drink mixture. Blend until smooth; add more pineapple juice if mixture is too thick. Repeat with remaining ice and mixture. Carefully pour into prepared glasses; serve.

HALLOWEEN SUNSET COCKTAIL

3 ounces tangerine juice
1 1/2 ounces white rum
3/4 ounce grenadine
Ice cubes

Combine juice and rum in a tall glass filled with ice. Top with grenadine. Serve.

BLOODY TOOTH COCKTAIL

1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
1 1/2 ounces pomegranate juice
1 ounce Simple Syrup
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish
Lemon twist, for garnish

Place whiskey, pomegranate juice, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker; fill with ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a rocks glass. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and lemon twist.

SINISTER CIDER COCKTAIL

Fine black sanding sugar
1 lady apple, chopped
1/2 lime, cut into wedges
1 ounce maple syrup
1 ounce apple cider
2 ounces vodka
Ice
Club soda
1 thin crosswise slice lady apple, for garnish

Moisten the rim of a martini glass with water. Place sanding sugar in a saucer and dip rim of glass in sanding sugar to coat; set aside.

In a cocktail shaker, muddle together apple cubes and lime wedges. Add syrup, cider, and vodka; fill with ice. Cover and shake until well combined. Strain into prepared martini glass; top with club soda. Garnish with apple slice and serve.
